DIY: Leather Hanging Mirror

It's been a while since I've shared a DIY on this blog...

So alongside the occasional illustrations, I do like to dabble in a bit of DIY homeware. My latest and proudest has been this mirror below. Unfortunately I can't take the credit for the design of the particular mirror as the style is a popular one that seems to have swept the boards of Pinterest in the last year or so. My motivation to recreate this design was one of budget; I had seen plenty elsewhere but unfortunately none that fit my monetary restrictions (-or my moto of 'if it's not food, it's not worth it).

To start off, the mirror was a fantastic bargain from a second-hand shop (£3), and it came with a stand! To polish everything up and give a uniform look to the mirror, I purchased from B&Q some black metal paint (£10). The straps were actually two (£1) belts from Primark - all I've done is fasten them together and glued them down using some E6000 glue. All in all, I have to say I'm very happy with this outcome, especially considering the grand total of £15. Gobsmacked.

Below are some from the wonderful world wide web, if you wanted to go down the route of purchasing one. These are some of my favourites:
