CREATIVE SPOTLIGHT: Woman. Women.

Happy (belated) international women's day! This is to all the women out there; the strong, confident, the independent, the mothers, the daughters, the warriors, and the fighters. We are all a fantastically powerful force to be reckoned with and frankly we deserve more than a day but this nevertheless this is a start...

Below are some beautiful images that have been in my Insta moodboard for the last year or so and I could literally spend all day just staring at each of them. These photos have no chronological order, nor any relation to the other - they just feature some stunning women in the media (some fictitious, others not) and I thought on this occasion we could just appreciate them.

ILLUSTRATION: Dolce and Gabbana

'Did you draw this?'

Lately, I keep getting quite a few of this particular question. Frankly, it is one of my favourite questions and a compliment within itself. Every time I get asked this question, I find it very very hard to maneuver my head through a doorway.

So, here is one of my latest illustrations. Obviously, I just cannot seem to get D&G off my mind. So this was a past illustration of mine, I decided to revamp it as, honestly, I just did not have the time or energy to start from scratch. The majority of my illustrations evolve from a sketch in pencil - or mechanical pencil because I am just that uncultured. I use a mixture of pencils - my favourite being 4B and B and my blending tool of choice is a (clean!) cotton bud.

After I have my finished sketch, I ideally would scan my image onto the digital world. However, as I am a newbie and lack the funds, I opt for a photo on either a Pixel phone or a Samsung Galaxy S8. Once the image has transported itself magically to my PC, I can freely use Adobe's fantastic software to edit, add colour, textiles and the finishing sparkles. Swipe in some rouge, add a touch of hairspray, maybe a label and Voila!

ILLUSTRATION: Shiran Abergil x Efrat Cassouto

Just thought I'd share my newest illustrations with you guys...

So I recently discovered a new designer through the muddle of Instagram. Through this discovery I also found a fantastic jewellery designer and a model I was unfamiliar with - all from one picture! ... aah the joys of Insta..

Anyway I haven't been able to shake this picture out of my head; I knew I needed to buy the earrings or illustrate the picture. Needless to say, I opted for the latter...

FASHION IN FOCUS: Tommy Hilfiger x Gigi Hadid

Who hasn't been on the Gigi train this last 2 years? I feel like at this point, regardless of whether you like her or not, you have to just admit - she is killing it! Everywhere you go; pop in your local drugstore, Gigi...Pick up a magazine? Gigi. Instagram - Gigi. Gigi Hadid is killing it.

Now, as far as Tommy Hilfiger goes...if anyone knows me you'll know that I don't necessarily fit the image of T Hilfiger's demographic. However, that being said, I feel absolutely enamored with this new collaboration and truth be told, I kinda want the clothes too. The first picture I've popped on this post (featuring a close-up of the gorgeous Gigi) consists of one of the key items from the Spring  collection. My favourite thing about the grey sweatshirt is the half zip that features the gold ring pull which is just such a fantastic addition. The metallic gold really gives the piece of athleisure wear a luxury touch. The one thing however, that sells this to me is the combination of navy, white and that signature red stripes. *Sigh* Aah...one day hopefully...

FASHION IN FOCUS - Fendi Autumn/Winter 2017

So glad I cam across this past collection from Fendi because there is not a single thing I don't love about it. The first thing that stands out to me are the colours; I absolutely adore the kinky pops of cherry-red leather, the different textures of black and most of all, the sheen of the oxford blue printed fabric.

I absolutely adore the addition of the over-the-knee boots, they are such a statement. Add in some midi length skirts and dresses that allow a peak of the shiny leather, pair in some classic pieces such as a collard coat or a shirt dress. The macrame-like cut outs, fantastic knits and geometric prints are just a bonus.

One look from the collection I desperately wish would translate onto the High Street is the one worn by Bella Hadid - mind you, it's not too far off from what we are now seeing on the daily. I think it might just be the red thigh-highs that we're missing.
